I've Made A Terrible Mistake........!!!!

I went into the "loft of doom" to put some stuff away, and then decided a rummage was in order. There are a number of exciting boxes living up there, and you can easily forget whats in each one, I found one, and the temptation to open the lid was just too much!! In it I found this lot

Now, finding things, and then going into the internet, thinking Hmmmm wonder what rules are about, is never a good combination, and somehow my fingers pressed buttons, and I found myself ordering these

So here I am, executing a perfect off on a
One of those Ohhhhhhh shiny moments we gamers/painters always seem to have!!

I hope I get the project a bit further than my last attempt

oh yes, three slightly painted figures!!!!

I'm watching this again for inspiration, and I may be heading over to the Galloping Major Miniatures site, for some Rangers!!!

Don't you just love a new project.

Fear not though steadfast blog followers, I have a vehicle to finish off first before all this madness begins

Blimey, an actual game!!!

Finally got to deploy some figures, and terrain for a game.Made my way over to New Buckenham, to meet up with the gaming gang. Thanks to Stuart, and Lee for agreeing to take part. Rules used were "Disposable Heroes. We played the first scenario from the "Atacer es Vencer" supplement, a very bloody game, with a narrow victory for Lee and the forces of the Republic.
The Layout.

The Duel on the road, ends in disaster for the Militia

The rules work quite well for the period, we need to have a few more games to allow them to sink in a bit, plus a few tweaks will help to balance things out.

I do need to make a lot more terrain though, as our options were fairly limited.

It was great to get all the stuff out again, and I now have a lot more enthusiasm to get some more work done.

No Pasaran!!

The Anarchists of the CNT-FAI, have blockaded the painting desk!!!

In between painting figures, and making the occasional vehicle master, I do put on the odd SCW game. Needed some barricades for the next game, and this is what we have so far.

On the left, old bed, and assorted bits of wood, some barrels and sacks, the odd crate, an old wagon wheel, plus a few rocks . The bed will have a mattress draped over the top, and I may add a few well placed sandbags.
On the right, household furniture, and rocks make up the bulk of this one, I will also add some sandbags along the top too.

So, a bit of work to do, have til Friday evening to get this lot sorted!!!

Just the detailing to go, and its off to Paul for casting.
Will make up a seperate roof section, and turret, for the rear, so we get an amoured scout/car variant

More Pics as it progresses.

A Las Barricadas!!

I saw this set on TMP. and thought they looked very useful. So, I went ahead, and ordered a set.
Three days later, which is pretty damn quick from Europe, and they are in my grubby litle paws.

So, what do you get for your approx £15 on the  Euro exchange. Well there are 9 assorted sections, that can be arranged in various formats. The pieces are extremely well cast in a dark grey resin, and are really well detailed, in fact I would go as far to say, that these are the best sandbags I have seen so far in this scale. Included in my order were some very useful little bits, jerrycan, a couple of tyres, a barrel, and a sack of grain.

Two of the sections go together, to form this MG loophole

They look to be just about the right height, and the bags themselves don't look massive

On the plus side, they look very similar to the ones in period photos.Just need to add some more detritous to them to et the full effect.
.

I might use one section to add onto the end of this barricade I am putting together. Add some old mattresses, rocks, old bits of wood etc, and away we go. Got a few of these to work my way through, and its fun chucking lots of odds and sods onto a base, to see what gives the best effect. You can never have too many barricades after all!!

Overall, I would recommend these to anyone looking for some suitable 28mm sandbag sections, Ok they are not the cheapest alternative, but I reckon they are the best, by a very long way.
